Signons, Searches and Queries (Total Account Usage)

This report shows the number of times a user signs in (Signons) to access CSA Illumina using the assigned username and password. It also shows the number of searches performed and number of times the databases were queried for submitted searches within a specified time period. The signons, searches and queries are all broken down by month.

Example of a query: If a user submits a search for "fish" in the Aquatic Sciences subject area and selects the following databases; Aqualine, Oceanic Abstracts and Water Resources Abstracts the number of queries would be 3 as three databases are queried for the submitted search.

Consortium Report (Total Consortium Usage)

This report is very similar to the "Total Account Usage" report. It provides the total signons, searches and queries for each username and password associated with particular consortium.

Fulltext Report by Month

This report provides the user with the total number of times full-text articles are viewed by Month for each journal. This report is also available at the consortium level for organizations that are a member of a consortium.

Fulltext Report by Publication Year

This report provides the user with the total number of times full-text articles are viewed by year of publication for each journal. This report is also available at the consortium level for organizations that are a member of a consortium.

This report displays the total count for records viewed and records captured in the six different formats. The six formats in which the records are viewed and captured are:

• custom - accounts for all the search results viewed in custom format.
• full - accounts for all the search results viewed in full format
• full-omitrefs - accounts for all the search results viewed in full format - no references.
• quikbib - accounts for all search results viewed through the QuikBib export function.
• refworks - accounts for all search results viewed through the RefWorks export function.
• short - accounts for all the search results viewed in short format.

• abstract - the count of viewing a single cited abstract record through linked references.
• browse - total count of records viewed from 'Browse' mode.
• cited - the total count of records viewed through the 'Cited by' links.
• duplicate - the count of viewing a single duplicate record from the results list.
• email - the total count of records exported through the 'Save, Print, Email' function.
• marked - the total count of records exported through the 'Mark This Record' function.
• new issue alert - the count of retrieved records for new issues alerts.
• print - the total count of records exported through the 'Save, Print, Email' function.
• quikbib - the total count of records exported through the 'QuikBib' bibliography creator through the 'Save, Print, Email' function.
• refworks - the total count of records exported to 'RefWorks' through the 'Save, Print, Email' function.
• results - total counts of records viewed from user queries.
• save - the total count of records exported through the 'Save, Print, Email' function.
• scholar - the count of viewing a single scholar record.
• search alert - the count of retrieved records for search alerts.
• toc - the count of viewing a single TOC record.
• view - the count of viewing a single record.

COUNTER - Journal Report 1
Number of Successful Full-Text Article Requests by Month and Journal

No change in Release 3: This report provides the user with the total number of successful Full-Text article requests by month and journal. Full-Text article request include totals for PDF and HTML formats. This report is also available at the consortium level for organizations that are a member of a consortium.

COUNTER - Database Report 1
Total Searches and Sessions* by Month and Database

Release 2: This report provides the user with the total searches and sessions by month and database. This report is also available at the consortium level for organizations that are a member of a consortium.

Release 3: This report provides the user with the total searches and sessions by month and database. This report is also available at the consortium level for organizations that are a member of a consortium. In this release "Search and Session" activity generated by federated search engines and automated search agents are categorized and reported separately from regular searches.

*CSA Signons do not relate directly to databases, therefore "Sessions by Database" are "n/a" for CSA Illumina COUNTER DB3 usage.

Release 2: This report provides the user with the total searches and sessions by month and service. This report is also available at the consortium level for organizations that are a member of a consortium.

Number of Successful Full-Text Article Requests by Month

New in Release 3: This report is a single XML file, broken down by consortium member, which contains the full-text usage data for every online journal taken by individual consortium members, calculated on the same basis as in Journal Report 1 above.

COUNTER - Consortium Report 2
Total Searches and Sessions* by Month and Database

New in Release 3: This report is a single XML file, broken down by consortium member, which contains the search and session counts for each database taken by individual consortium members calculated on the same basis as for Database Report 1 above.

*CSA Signons do not relate directly to databases, therefore "Sessions by Database" are "n/a" for CSA Illumina COUNTER CR2 usage.
